Zoe Saldana Dethrones Scarlett Johansson as the Highest-Grossing Actor of All Time—See $17.5 Million Mansion She Bought With Her Earnings
"Avatar" actress Zoe Saldaña has officially broken the record for the highest-grossing actor of all time, dethroning her fellow Marvel star Scarlett Johansson in the process.
Saldaña, 47, officially claimed the honor thanks to her role in "Avatar: Fire and Ash," the third installment in James Cameron's "Avatar" series, which debuted in December and has since earned $1.23 billion, according to Variety.
However, this pales in comparison to the success of the franchise's previous releases, "Avatar" and "Avatar: The Way of Water," which respectively hold the No. 1 and No. 3 spots for the highest-grossing movies of all time. "Avengers: Endgame," which Saldaña also had a prominent role in, holds the No. 2 place on the list.
The actress, who made her on-screen debut in a 1999 episode of "Law & Order," per IMDB, has gone on to star in a series of the world's most popular movie franchises, including "Star Trek," as well as multiple "Marvel" films.
In total, the mother of three's movies have grossed a staggering $15.47 billion, according to The Numbers.

Before "Avatar: Fire and Ash" premiered, she held the third spot on the list of highest-grossing actors behind Johansson and fellow "Marvel" star Samuel L. Jackson.
Interestingly, despite her box office success, Saldaña did not appear on Forbes' most recent list of the 20 highest-paid actors in the world, which was topped by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and saw Nicole Kidman claim the top spot for a female star.
Still, her pay package is not to be discounted—with reports suggesting that the actress earned a staggering $4 million for the first "Avatar" movie, only for that salary to double to $8 million for the second installment. It's not known exactly how much she earned for the third movie in the series.
While she is said to have earned a relatively meager $100,000 for the first movie in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise, that number of said to have spiked to $3 million for "Avengers: Infinity War" and then again to $11 million for "Avengers: Endgame."
Yet Saldaña is not known for living a particularly excessive lifestyle, despite residing in a stunning Montecito mansion that she purchased for $17.5 million in February 2023, just two months after it was listed for $18.9 million.
Her purchase of that sprawling Spanish-style property, which offers five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, came just a few months after she listed her other California abode, an enormous Beverly Hills mansion that she initially put on the market for $16.5 million in September 2023.
However, Saldaña did not enjoy the same smash hit success with her property listing as she has at the box office—instead facing a desperate battle to offload the Beverly Hills home, a task that ultimately took more than two years.
Over that time, the actress slowly reduced her asking price, first dropping it to $14.9 million, then to $14.5 million, before lowering it to $13.99 million.

Prior to selling, the ask had been discounted even more, this time to $11.99 million.
She would be forced to take yet another hit, however, selling the property for an even $10 million in November 2024.
Luckily, Saldaña still managed to walk away with a profit, having purchased the abode for $8.7 million in 2016, the same year that "Star Trek Beyond" premiered—and just a few months before the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
As for her new abode, it is located just a few minutes from the homes of other major stars like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, and Ellen DeGeneres.
Unlike her Beverly Hills home, which sat on less than an acre, Saldaña's Montecito mansion is situated on more than 4.6 acres, and offered what the listing described as a rare combination of "history, architecture, and pedigree."
The property was originally built in 1930, having been designed by architect George Washington Smith, although it underwent several updates before Saldaña purchased it.
Those renovations made sure to preserve many of the period details, however, including the original lighting, tiles, and windows, all of which help to give the dwelling a truly historic feel.
"The elegant home is set on two parcels with 4.76 acres of gently rolling grounds, ancient oaks, meandering paths, and views to the sea and the Santa Ynez mountains," the listing stated.
Saldaña, who shares three children with her husband, Marco Perego-Saldaña, occasionally offers glimpses inside the property in images shared on her Instagram account, revealing an elegant aesthetic filled with neutral decor and elegant textures.
