Ahoy, quick-acting maties.

Seven offers poured in for a pirate-themed house in Las Vegas that is decked out from bow to stern.

The list price was $349,999, and five of the offers were over that.

“You have to see it in person to totally appreciate it. Photos are great, but not as great as in person,” says listing agent Ashea Lindell-Gray, with Coldwell Banker Premier.

On the market for a little over two weeks, the imaginative home is pending a sale.

Pirate passion project

The transformation of the 2,455-square-foot house began in 2010 as a passion project.

“My wife and I both had rough upbringings, so when I bought my house, I wanted to build a really supersafe space, so when I came home, the whole rest of the world disappeared,” says owner Kitty Reign.

A trip to Disneyland cemented the theme of the home.

“I went on a trip with my grandparents, and they took me to Disneyland,” Reign says. “When I rode the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ that was the first time I felt like I left the real world and I was in a completely safe space. That’s why my house had to start with pirates.”

This is more than just a few pieces of pirate booty decor or a mural on the wall. It’s a total commitment to the subject.

“I have some absolutely amazing artists and friends, and when I shared with them my vision, all of them got excited,” Reign says. “Over the last 10 years, I’ve had multiple artist friends who came over and contributed to different sections of the build-out of the house.”

There’s a 20-foot bar and a DJ booth in what looks like a wrecked ship, and the hallway looks like a boat deck.

“All the woodwork is slat wood that we physically cut, and instead of staining, we hand-burned every single piece of wood that went into the build-out,” Reign says.

‘It’s an immersion’

The exterior of the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home fits in with the surrounding houses, but that all changes when you open the front door.

“What I wanted to re-create in my home is that, when you walk in, the real world has disappeared. You’re now somewhere else,” Reign explains. “It’s an immersion. Everything has to smell right. It has to look right. Every detail has to be perfect, and I didn’t want any cheesy pirate. It had to be authentic.”

A multilevel guest casita with a separate entrance is where a former spa and sauna used to be. What remains is yet another homage.

“You see all the natural woods and the foliage. You can see the ‘Temple of Doom’ there in the background with a full rope bridge,” Reign says. “We call it the ‘Indiana Jones’ Adventure Room.”

The casita has a small kitchen and a bathroom.

Pirate theme is a win

Lindell-Gray says some people told her this house would be difficult to sell because it is so taste-specific, but the quick offers tell a different story.

“When I came in here, it was like, ‘Wow, don’t change a damn thing,’” Lindell-Gray says. While the standard advice for selling a house is to make it as neutral as possible, that was not the strategy for this property.

“Kitty shared with me that previous Realtors® had come in and asked her how long it would take to take all this stuff down, and my mouth dropped. I don’t understand how people don’t see the art and appreciate it.”

The buyer told the sellers they were planning to keep everything, a factor that was important to Reign and her wife.

“Even if we got an offer that was over asking price, we were waiting for that buyer that wanted it exactly as it is,” Reign says. “The current buyer offered over asking price, and they wanted nothing moved. They wanted everything. They wanted it exactly the way it is and wanted nothing to change.”

Reign says she might cry when she leaves the house but has plans for another creative endeavor.

“We just love the house, but we’re excited about our next project,” Reign says.
