Paris Hilton Reveals She Has ‘an Entire Room’ To House Her Collection of Sunglasses—Weeks After Buying New $63 Million Mansion

by Kelsi Karruli

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has taken her love of fashion to extraordinary new heights—confessing that her obsession with sunglasses has gotten so out of control, she has to have an entire room in her Los Angeles house dedicated to storing her 10,000-strong collection of eyewear.

Hilton, 44, made the candid admission during an interview with The Times, in which she opened up about her spending habits, favorite fashion items, and her biggest regrets.

When asked what item she "has too many of," the socialite and mother of two was quick to call attention to her impressive sunglasses collection, revealing that they not only occupy an entire room of her home, but also have special holographic shelves on which they're displayed.

"I have an entire room in my house for sunglasses and every wall has holographic shelves with about 10,000 sunglasses," confessed Hilton, who shares daughter London, 1, and son Phoenix, 2, with husband Carter Reum.

Hilton did not reveal which of her properties has been outfitted with its own special sunglasses room—however, she recently snapped up a brand-new abode which will have ample room for accessory storage: a $63.1 million Beverly Hills estate that previously belonged to Mark Wahlberg.

With more than 30,000 square feet of space—and 6 acres of land—the sprawling estate offers more than enough room for Hilton to have an entire wing dedicated to her shades, should she wish.

As for how her sunglasses collection has reached such an impressive size, Hilton noted that her style has changed dramatically over the years; however, she still likes to have plenty of options on hand in the event that she wants to reach for a more retro design.

"Back in the day I loved the big circle Dior ones. Now I have the cat-eye Karl Lagerfeld ones and I’m obsessed with my Karls," she added.

The entrepreneur's fondness for fashion has already been passed down to daughter London, she revealed—explaining that she's been holding on to her favorite "sparkly dresses" so that the youngster can have them when she's older.

She revealed that she was holding on to her "sparkly dresses" so that London can eventually parade around in them.

"She’s already starting to raid my closet and she’s only a year and half, so I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when she’s a teenager," Hilton joked.

And a sunglasses room isn't the only lavish part of her home; Hilton revealed that she also built a private spa in her pad to perfect her beauty routine.

"I built a spa at my house called the Sliving Spa [“slaying” and “living” combined] and it has all the beauty devices—an LED red light bed and cryotherapy machine that I go on every morning to get ready for my day," she said.

Further in the interview, Hilton spoke about her favorite thing she owns and why she never takes the garbage out anymore.

Speaking about her most-loved item, Hilton noted that she doesn't even use her favorite purchase.

"My pink Bentley, even though I don’t drive it because I feel like Minnie Mouse at Disneyland. People get out of their cars on the freeway to pose next to me," she said.

When the reality star was asked what she wears to take out the garbage, she revealed that she doesn't remove the trash herself because she would routinely get swarmed by photographers in the past whenever she tried to perform the task herself.

"I don’t take the garbage out. I used to in the 2000s when I lived on the Kings Road [in West Hollywood] and every time there were literally 50 cars of paparazzi and they would go through my trash," she explained.

"Every day was like leaving a press line, and the star tour buses knew my address so I had to do meet and greets every time I got home. It got a little too much."

Hilton's sneak peek into her home comes mere months after she purchased a home complete with its own Hollywood history.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the heiress turned businesswoman is the proud new owner of the astonishing property, which boasts 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms. The 6-acre spread is part of the gated community of Beverly Park.

Hilton appears to have closed on the property on June 20. Records indicate that she was represented in the transaction by her brother, real estate agent Barron Hilton, and his wife, Tessa Hilton.

It marked a positive milestone for the mother of two after what has been a fraught few months—during which she and Reum lost their Malibu beach house in the California wildfires.

At the time, Hilton shared the devastating news on Instagram, revealing that she had been watching live news coverage when she saw the horrifying flames consume her own house.

"Heartbroken beyond words," Hilton wrote while sharing live ABC7 footage of the smoldering remains of her home. "Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.

"This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London."

Hilton's three-bedroom home, which offered just under 3,000 square feet of living space, was located in a jaw-dropping spot on La Costa beach, on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway, which was obliterated by the fires as they spread from the Palisades through Santa Monica and Malibu.

She and Reum purchased the abode for $8.4 million in 2021, although they are understood to have been living in a different dwelling at the time of the fires, having relocated to a more spacious property in Beverly Hills after their son was born.

That property is reportedly owned by investor Leonid Smirnov, who last put the dwelling on the rental market for a staggering $160,000 a month. It's unclear if this is the price that Hilton paid.

It seems that Hilton and Reum fell in love with the neighborhood while staying there—given that their new abode is directly adjacent to the rental, which should result in an incredibly easy move.

However, Hilton and Reum's newly purchased abode boasts more than double the space of their leased dwelling and almost twice the land.

The couple are understood to have purchased the dwelling through an LLC, with the identity of the seller also hidden behind a limited liability company.

However, there is no mistaking one of its most prominent former owners: "The Departed" star Wahlberg, 54, who commissioned famed architect Richard Landry to design the opulent abode for his family in 2014.

Wahlberg originally purchased the lush land on which the home now sits for the relatively low cost of $8.25 million in 2009 and resided there with his family until 2022, when he announced that he had relocated to Nevada.

Nevada is "a place where my kids can thrive and do their thing and pursue their interests," he told People, adding during an appearance on "The Talk": "To be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer—this made a lot more sense for us."

Although he conceded that he missed the weather in California, he said his kids were "thriving" in Nevada, where he purchased a property in the exclusive Summit Club community for $14.5 million in August 2022, four months after listing his Beverly Park property.

However, he opted to sell the Vegas dwelling one year later, explaining that it had been only a temporary abode for his family, for whom he was planning to build a custom mansion in their new home state. He neglected to share whether that dwelling would boast anywhere near as many opulent amenities as his Beverly Hills home.

To say the actor took full advantage of his 6-acre Beverly Park plot would be a gross understatement.

Not only does the property boast a sport court, skate park, five-hole golf course, and resort-style pool, the main residence houses a home theater, fitness center, library, and wine and cigar cellar.

"A rare opportunity to own one of Los Angeles' most significant estates, combining modern updates with timeless grandeur, designed to rival any luxury resort experience," the listing read.

Wahlberg initially listed the mansion for $87.5 million—however, it took almost a year (and a very significant discount) to find a buyer, who ultimately picked up the palatial pad for $55 million.
