Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ‘Separate’ After 19 Years of Marriage—Amid Claims They Have Been ‘Living Apart’ for Months

by Charlie Lankston

Hollywood legend Nicole Kidman and country music sensation Keith Urban have reportedly separated after 19 years of marriage—with reports claiming that the A-list duo have been "living apart since the beginning of summer."

Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, who wed in 2006, share two children together: budding model Sunday Rose, 17, and 14-year-old Faith Margaret, both of whom were born in Nashville, TN, where the couple have been based since 2008.

According to TMZ, which first reported the news of the split, the couple's teenage daughters have both been living with their mother in the family's longtime home in the Southern city, with sources telling the outlet that Urban has "acquired his own residence in Nashville" where he is said to have been living for some time.

Insiders also claimed that the separation is "one-sided" and that Kidman has been fighting to save her marriage, all the while "holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone."

It is currently unclear whether Kidman and Urban are taking some time apart temporarily or their so-called separation will lead to divorce. Some sources have blamed their hectic work schedules for the split.

Realtor.com® has contacted the couple's spokesperson for comment.

"Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour," one unnamed source told the Daily Mail. "There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce, but there is a world that they both live where neither of them are in it.

"Keith and Nicole have been together for decades and there is a world which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, it is not a couple."

Interestingly, reports about the apparent breakdown of the couple's marriage comes just two months after it was revealed that Kidman had applied for residency in Portugal—but had not listed Urban's name on the paperwork.

According to local media outlet SIC Notícias, the "Practical Magic" star submitted her application to the country’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, with sources telling the publication that she had been looking for a dwelling in the European country for some time.

At the time, sources insisted that all was well in the marriage, telling the New York Post that Urban's name was not included in the application because his tour dates would have prevented him from attending the necessary in-person appointments to secure his visa.

"Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S. and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa," the insider said.

"He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule. While Nicole and Keith own a home in Portugal, their primary residence will continue to be in Nashville."

That primary residence is a stunning mansion that the A-list duo picked up for $3.47 million in 2008—and where they have since raised their daughters.

They had previously owned a farm in Franklin, TN, which they bought for $2.45 million in 2007. They offloaded that property for $2.3 million in 2018.

Records indicate that both of their Tennessee properties were purchased through a trust, which their primary residence remains under.

It's unclear whether Urban's new residence is located near the family home.

Should the couple decide to divorce, their Nashville property will be one of many that they will have to split—having built up an extraordinary real estate portfolio during their two decades of marriage.

In addition to their Tennessee pile, Kidman and Urban also own a palatial Beverly Hills mansion, which was broken into earlier this year in a Valentine's Day incident.

The burglar is understood to have gained access to the home by smashing a window, according to police sources who spoke to TMZ.

Kidman and Urban were not at their seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom property when it was targeted, with a source adding that "one of their employees" arrived at the home while the intruder was there and "scared them off."

The actress and the singer purchased the dwelling for $4.7 million in 2008, according to records. Realtor.com estimates that it is now worth upward of $9 million.

Though the duo have been primarily based in Nashville for many years, they are understood to have used the property whenever they needed to be in Los Angeles for work—including film shoots, TV projects, and awards ceremonies.

Kidman attended numerous events throughout the 2025 awards season, including the Golden Globes on Jan. 5 and the Critics Choice Awards on Feb. 7, while Urban was busy traveling on his "High and Alive" world tour—spending his Valentine's Day performing a concert in Las Vegas.

According to a post shared on Urban's Instagram, his wife joined him in Vegas for the concert so they could celebrate the romantic holiday together, with a candid image showing the two walking arm in arm backstage at the show.

Additionally, the duo hold the keys to a palatial property in Australia, where Kidman is from, and are also understood to own a home in Manhattan.

Kidman, who wrapped filming on "Practical Magic 2," in which she stars alongside Sandra Bullock, earlier this month, was most recently seen at the Nashville Film Festival, which she attended without her husband by her side.

Prior to that, she and Urban were pictured together in Los Angeles in June, when they attended a FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match—although Kidman posted an Instagram image of herself with Urban a few days later in honor of their wedding anniversary.

Neither Kidman nor Urban have publicly addressed the reports of their split. However, the latter is still busy traveling on his tour—which is due to run until mid-October, when he will take a break, before hitting the road again in March.
