Kai Trump Lifts the Lid on Her Life at Home With 24/7 Secret Service Protection—and What It’s Like To Date With Armed Guards
President Donald Trump's granddaughter Kai has candidly opened up about how her life has changed since his reelection in 2024—laying bare how she goes about her day-to-day routine and even dates with Secret Service agents constantly in tow.
The 18-year-old budding golf star, who is the daughter of Trump's eldest son, Don Jr. and his former wife, Vanessa, is due to graduate from her Florida high school later this year, at which point she will attend the University of Miami, joining the school's Division I golf team.
However, while that major milestone is still ahead of her, the teenager has had quite the roller-coaster year since her grandfather returned to the White House, one that she detailed in a wide-ranging interview with Logan Paul on his “Impaulsive” podcast, where she covered everything from dating to politics.
Kai, who currently lives between her father and her mother's homes in Jupiter, FL, began by touching on how "awkward" it is to go on dates when she is being guarded by members of the Secret Service, conceding that she has found it "weird" to get to grips with.
While the teenager was afforded the same protection during her grandfather's first term—as well as in the immediate aftermath—she said that things have ramped up over the past year since his inauguration in January 2025.

"It's a little weird," she said. "I try my best not to let it bother me. Especially the past year, since he's become president, I've had to learn that, yes, they're following me, but also to focus on pretending that they're not there.
"Obviously, they are there. But if you can try to not really focus on that and enjoy your time with your friends, your family, or whatever it is, it makes it easier.
"Because for the first few months, it was tough. It was not easy having someone following you all the time. But once I was like: 'Their only job is to protect me. I'm going to focus on my stuff and have them do their job.' It made it so much easier."
Kai also admitted that she has already decided to stay "completely" out of politics, adding that there is no "bad blood" between her and her grandfather's Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
"I don’t want anything to do with politics because I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing," she said.
As for her own personal beliefs, Kai said that she prefers a more balanced approach to politics, explaining that she sees risk in either side of the aisle displaying "radical" or "extreme" views.
"If both sides met in the middle, everyone would be so much more happier, and I think there's radical left, there's radical right, and there's a lot of people who get too extreme," she went on.
"And that's where social media really ties into it, because social media kind of makes your Instagram or your feed be one way or the other, and there's not a lot of things on social media if you're very much in the middle."

As for Harris, she said there is no bad feeling on her part, saying that the only rift to exist was that of one political opponent running against another.
"That kind of makes some people crazy, and some people buy into it too much. I think that's like the best way to say it. There's no bad blood. I'm very much in the middle. It is what it is: They ran against each other," she said.
At the end of the podcast, Kai insisted that her grandfather has no plans to run for a seat in the White House again, something he has previously hinted at.
"He's not running for a third term. Sadly not. But who knows? A lot could happen until 2028," she said.
While Kai's life may have evolved as a result of her grandfather's victory in the election, she has also previously admitted that she's been lucky enough to enjoy many positive experiences, too, including unparalleled access to the White House.
In a recent YouTube video, the avid golfer took her fans on a tour of some of her famous spaces inside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., revealing where she and her siblings stay when they're lucky enough to visit.
Kai was even allowed to use the White House grounds as the backdrop for a photo shoot in which she promoted her new line of golfing attire, documenting the entire process on camera.
One of the first stops on the trip was the uppermost White House balcony, where Kai and her brother took in incredible views of the Washington Monument, with the teen telling her viewers: "Look how beautiful it is."
Kai then retreated to a bathroom to prepare for her photo shoot, admitting to the cameras that she was "exhausted" after being "up all night."

The siblings were then treated to a chef-prepared meal in a private room of the White House, with Kai crediting the chefs for knowing that she "loves [her] grilled chicken."
Having refueled, Kai met up with the crew for her photo shoot, before heading outside to scout the best locations—at which point she recalled how she and Trump's son Barron, now 19, used to play soccer on the lawn outside the White House, revealing that they would often try to lure the Secret Service into joining their games.
"Me and Barron used to play soccer on this lawn, and we used to have the Secret Service, and we'd try and kick the ball to the Secret Service," she recounted. "They couldn't kick it back, but we'd try having them included."
She added: It was "so long ago. I actually think one of the first times I came here, I had a broken arm, and me and Barron played soccer out here."
The time then came for Kai to show off her golf skills on the putting green at the White House, which served as the perfect spot for her to model her merch.
Kai couldn't help but mock the condition of her grandfather's green, saying that the balls were moving "a little slow" because he had "not rolled these out whatsoever."
She did, at one point, suffer from some stage fright, joking as the photographer snapped away: "This is cringe. The Secret Service are watching like, 'What?'"
Still, she voiced amazement at the opportunity being given to her: "That's pretty cool. Not many people get to do that."
