HGTV Star’s Foot Is ‘Shattered’ in Painful Accident Just Weeks After Surgery
"Married to Real Estate" star Egypt Sherrod has reassured fans that she is safe and well—despite suffering an agonizing start to 2026 when her foot was "shattered" in an unfortunate accident, just weeks after she underwent surgery.
The HGTV icon, 49, took to Instagram to update fans on her health after they raised concerns amid her noticeable absence from social media.
“Hi family! I owe you an update…..sorry for the silence. I had to step away from the world for the past five weeks to focus fully on healing after surgery. It’s been a scary road, but I’m still standing and still on the mend," she wrote.
However, Sherrod revealed that her recovery from that unspecified procedure was impeded when she was involved in a painful accident that left her unable to walk.
“Now here’s the wild part… just as I finally got back on my feet last week, a literal piece of marble fell on my foot and shattered two of my toes. TWO. The devil is absolutely a liar," she went on.
It marked the end of what was a tumultuous year for Sherrod and her husband, Mike Jackson, whose popular HGTV show was suddenly canceled midway through 2025, when the network carried out a major programming purge.
But the reality TV star said that she is still hopeful that 2026 will be a positive year because her injury occurred just before the new year.

"But listen…..the bright side? This still happened in 2025, the year of the snake, so I’m rebuking all of this energy for 2026, the year of the horse. No carryover. None," she added.
“So yes, I’m getting back on this horse and riding it all the way out. This season is about dreams realized, dead weight released, walls and ceilings shattered, and doors kicked wide open. I’m creating opportunities for every woman I can, even if I have to kick in those damn doors with broken toes. CLAIMED!!!!!! And so it is."
Before her injury update, Sherrod penned online, "I’ve been offline, not lost. Resting in stillness, letting life breathe, and remembering that not everything meaningful needs to be shared in the moment. Love you and happy holidays."
The news of her injury comes after she took to social media to update her fans on her two most recent milestones: winning two awards within a matter of hours.
“Last week, I was incredibly honored to be named Realtor® of the Year by Modern Luxury Magazine," she wrote, before adding that her design company, Indigo Road Design, had also been honored at a different ceremony.
"On the very same night, Indigo Road Design took home the Design 9 Award for Best Living Room," she shared.
Sherrod went on to thank her team for helping to propel her to such success, as well as her clients—whom she credited for continuing to put their "trust" in her.
The achievement came just days after the couple shared more details about their reaction to the shocking news their show was canceled in an interview with People, revealing their immediate thoughts at learning their show had been given the chop after four seasons.
Sherrod and Jackson, who began showing off their renovation skills on screen in 2022, previously explained on Instagram that they received the news about the cancellation just moments after arriving back in the U.S. following a family vacation in the Mediterranean.

And while the couple admitted they were devastated by the news, they told People that they couldn't help but find the funny side in the cancellation, which they described as "insane."
The home design experts said that they immediately went into "positive mode" and tried to see the upside in their situation, noting the particular irony in their receiving the news after returning from vacation—having experienced a similar incident after a trip to Costa Rica in 2024.
"We came back on this amazing high and, I lie to you not, we were still at the airport loading our bags in our car when management and the agency called us to tell us about the show. It was insane," Sherrod recalled.
The moment closely mirrored another devastating return from an anniversary trip the previous year, when the duo landed back in the U.S. to discover that their production team had been cleared out.
"Literally, Mike and I looked at each other and burst out laughing because it was like, 'What are the chances of us coming back from vacation the second time and getting this kind of news?'" Sherrod shared.
"One of the first things we said is maybe we shouldn't go on vacation anymore. Every time we went on vacation, we would get mollywhopped with something."
While the couple noted that they found as much humor in the situation as they could, the news did come with "disappointment and hurt."
The reality TV stars were among the first HGTV experts to announce that their show had been axed as part of a multiprogram clearout by the network, which began in the spring.

"Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with 'Married to Real Estate,'" the couple, who wed in 2010 and share three children, revealed in a June Instagram post.
They conceded that the situation was hurtful, but were quick to express their gratitude for the team that worked so hard on their four-season series.
"While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four incredible seasons," they went on.
"Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all—grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other)."
The husband and wife duo then hinted that there were other details they were not yet able to share with viewers, before branding the cancellation a "blessing in disguise."
"There’s more to say, and we’ll share soon. But for now, know this: Not all setbacks are what they seem. Some blessings show up in disguise. We’ve been here before. We’ll keep counting those blessings—and keep it moving. Stay tuned," they added.
The couple captioned the post, "Sometimes GOD will rip you out of a situation to set you up for your next!"
