HGTV Star Alison Victoria Relocates to Las Vegas After Legal Woes in Chicago Made Her Creativity ‘Die’
HGTV icon Alison Victoria has revealed that ditched Chicago because she felt like the Windy City was killing her "creativity," so she relocated to Las Vegas for a fresh start.
The 43-year-old "Windy City Rehab" alum opened up about her move in a wide-ranging interview with House Beautiful ahead of the release of her new show, "Sin City Rehab," which premiers tonight.
Victoria, who hails from Chicago, initially moved to Las Vegas at the age of 19 but swiftly returned to Chicago. Still, she kept Sin City in the back of her mind.
“Some of my most important years were out in Las Vegas, and most people didn't know that and don't know that. I always had a house out here and I always kept a life out here, but I would just mainly kind of pop in and visit," she told the outlet.
She then revealed that the lawsuits, in which some of her clients accused her of "shoddy construction," left her wanting to turn her back on Chicago for good.

Victoria explained, "After what I went through with the multiple lawsuits and the building department in Chicago, it just… I don't know how to explain it. It's like you're in a relationship, right? I was in a relationship with the city that I loved and lived in, and then it didn't treat me well.
"It just didn't, and I needed a break. I just needed to get out of there. I wasn't my happiest self; I wasn't living my best life.”
Victoria and her former costar, Donovan Eckhardt, were sued by clients. Victoria then sued Eckhardt for mishandling finances and shady behavior.
The legal drama, which went from 2019-2021, tainted Victoria's time in Chicago, causing her to head out as soon as possible.
The HGTV star added, “When I'm happy, I'm my most creative self. My creativity was dying in Chicago, and I felt that in my work.
“I literally up and left. I left the most beautiful dream home, which is just perfect. It's just stuck the way that I left it—fully furnished, all my clothes are there. I just was like, ‘I'm out.’”

The designer now lives in a Spanish-style pad in Henderson, NV, which she has branded her "sanctuary."
Now that she has settled in her Nevada home, Victoria revealed that she hopes to change the city "one house at a time, to show people that it doesn't have to all look the same."
She also gave fans a peek at her new show.
“People are gonna see I'm really trying to establish myself in the city and I'm running across problems right away, and I think it's interesting because people might think, ‘Oh, drama, drama, drama.’ It's like ‘No, this is real life.’
“As a woman in this business, you gotta stand your ground. You've got to protect yourself number one, and protect your clients, because if I'm trying to build my reputation out here in Las Vegas, I'm not gonna let someone try to scare me out of it," she said.
Victoria recently put her Chicago home on the market for $2.9 million—and is open to selling the dwelling fully furnished.
