HGTV Alums Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson Share Heartfelt Marriage Advice as They Enjoy Unique Date Night
HGTV stars Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson have offered up some thoughtful advice on how they keep the passion in their marriage alive—while enjoying a very quirky date night experience together.
The couple, who confirmed in June that their show had been axed from the home renovation network amid a widespread programing purge, took to Instagram to share a glimpse inside their fun-filled evening at a roller rink, where they showed off their skills while gushing about their relationship.
Posting a video of themselves whizzing around on their skates, Sherrod, 49, admitted that the activity had taken some getting used to, revealing that it was the first time in two decades that she had been on skates.
“I have not roller skated in over 20 years," she shared. "I feel like I'm just learning how to drive. Here we go.” Jackson added, “We got it.”
The video then showed the doting couple, who live in Georgia, skating around the rink and dancing before Jackson fell.

They then moved to the middle of the rink and held hands while dancing, before sharing a sweet kiss.
In the caption of the video, Sherrod opened up further about why they make dating such a big priority in their relationship, noting that they work hard each and every day to prove their commitment to one another.
"Date night! We don’t stay in step because life is smooth, we stay because God is faithful and our union is worth fighting for," she wrote. "Every glide is a choice, every turn back is a reminder that we can’t skate away when it’s hard. And when we stumble we don’t quit, we lean in, steady each other and continue.
"Love isn’t just felt, it’s fought for. And in Him, we always find our way back to each other. P.S. yes our ankles hurt the next day."
Their adorable date night comes just two months after they announced that they are expanding their real estate business to two new states following the cancellation of their HGTV series.
The couple run a large real estate company called Indigo Road, which includes a brokerage and an interior design arm.
For years, the couple's business has been headquartered in Atlanta, where they have built what they describe as a real estate "empire."

But now, months after their HGTV run came to an end, the couple have shared that they are ready to broaden Indigo Road's horizons, expanding it well beyond the Peach State and into three new locations—one in Florida and two in Texas.
Sherrod and Jackson shared the news in an Instagram post that featured several images and videos of them celebrating with their Indigo Road colleagues—with one clip featuring Sherrod making a major announcement to their team.
"You can underestimate us ... we actually prefer it that way. Just don’t underestimate what GOD can do for those who are faithful and do the work!" she captioned the post.
In one of the videos, Sherrod is seen addressing a crowded room at an Indigo Road event, telling the audience: "So, in two years, we’ve made an empire here in Atlanta. We’ve definitely built a family. We are expanding to Dallas, Texas; Houston, Texas; and Orlando, Florida."
The news marks a major step in the couple's real estate journey—one that they started documenting on HGTV in 2022, when their show launched.
However, after their show was suddenly axed, the couple took a brief step back from the spotlight, with Sherrod later revealing that she had suffered several significant health hiccups that required her to focus on healing rather than her public appearances.
“Hi family! I owe you an update ... sorry for the silence. I had to step away from the world for the past five weeks to focus fully on healing after surgery. It’s been a scary road, but I’m still standing and still on the mend," she wrote in a January post.
