EXCLUSIVE: Detroit Lions Star Jared Goff’s Wife Christen Reveals How She Transformed Both Their Homes To Become Havens for Their Daughter
Detroit Lions star Jared Goff’s wife, Christen, has tackled her new role as a mother with all the gusto of one of her husband's linebacker teammates—including overhauling both of the couple's homes to ensure that they're fit for their newborn baby girl.
Christen, 32, married quarterback Jared, 31, last year and appeared alongside him on Season 2 of the Netflix show “Quarterback,” which was released in July.
That same month, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Romy, and have since been splitting their time between Los Angeles, where they first met while Jared was playing for the Rams, and Detroit, where he now leads the Lions.
With homes in both California and Michigan, each with their own distinct aesthetic, overhauling them for their new arrival was no easy task.
Maytag partner Christen admits that she is still very much "figuring things out at home," but she has revealed to Realtor.com® the ways in which she has changed both dwellings for the baby—while maintaining their unique personalities.
“We’re so lucky to be able to live in two different places,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model gushed.
“I grew up in California, and there, we live by the beach, so our house kind of reflects that,” she shares about her L.A. home base. “We live steps away from the ocean so our house definitely has more of a coastal feel, very indoor-outdoor, which we love.

“And then here in Michigan, our house is a little bit more cozy, kind of farmhouse country. We always have the fireplace going, even in the summer, which is kind of insane, but I would say that this house is so cozy and it just makes me want to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie.”
Ahead of Romy’s arrival, Christen prepared a separate nursery inside both domains, each with an aesthetic that reflects its locale.
“In L.A., it’s, like, boho, Bohemian,” explains Christen. “We have some fun antiques in there.
"And then this one is a little more classy,” she says about Romy’s room in Michigan. “Her nursery is so sweet here. It's very, like, muted pink tones. I went full into the girly pink. It's just so fun to have a little girl and lean into the pink.
“There's little ruffles and rattan baskets and stripes, and I do have a little bit of green, but I love [that] I got to decorate two nurseries.”
The “extra cozy” Detroit-area dwelling is where the Goff family expects to celebrate Romy’s first Christmas, as Jared and his teammates are currently still in contention for an NFC playoff spot.
“We are here in Michigan through this season, so we're here, we'll be celebrating here, which is great,” says Christen. “We get nice, cozy Christmas weather here in Michigan, which I love.
“I love a California Christmas by the beach, but nothing beats a fireplace rolling with snow outside and your Christmas tree lit, so I'm really excited to be in Michigan for Christmas.”

With the holiday season and football season happening at the same time, the new mom is doing her best to hold the line at home during this chaotic time of year.
“I feel like it's a roller coaster a bit. Things are up and down, but overall, it's been such a dream and I feel like it's so hard to imagine what life was like before she existed,” she says.
“The biggest challenge is staying on top of things and not feeling overwhelmed, especially with Jared's busy work schedule, it's me kind of handling everything.
“Everything's always, always clean and neat in my house, but I'm definitely doing extra vacuuming, extra kind of wiping things down in her room, extra laundry, of course. I have my hands full, but we get it done.”
One house chore that’s become a formidable opponent for Christen ever since Romy was born is the family’s laundry load.
“I never realized the amount,” she admits. “I just was like, ‘Oh, you're gonna put them in, like, one onesie a day, but we pretty much are in a couple a day. We're going through them quickly, so [there’s] just a lot more laundry.
“She's in a bib vibe right now because she's drooling, so we're doing laundry for bibs, for onesies, for socks—there's so many baby socks.
“I just think the amount is a lot more than I was ever expecting, because things get dirty quick, and you have to turn that over and get it out, and everything's so tiny, but somehow it takes up a lot of your time.”
Even though Romy is generating her fair share of dirty clothes, Christen insists Jared’s pile can’t be beat.
“Jared has the most laundry in our house, by far,” she confirms. “The team has some experts to handle [his uniforms], but we do have some sweaty clothes at home, for sure.
“He's coming home from practice, he has, like, extra stuff,” she adds. “He definitely goes through laundry a lot more than I do.
“But now, we have a baby on top of the dog. We are just a household full of laundry, so the machine's constantly going here at our house.”

To score a win over the laundry pileup, the Maytag ambassador says she’s put the appliance company’s Pet Pro washer and dryer system in key position on her line of defense at home.
“It’s game-changing and it's a must,” she says. “I have a huge Golden Retriever, Great Pyrenees mix, so he has the longest, fluffiest fur, and I just need all the help I can get and this system is amazing because it will trap pet hair and take it off your clothes, it removes all the odor, all the bacteria, so I love it.
“And yes, of course, [I] need it in both houses,” she confirms. “My laundry room here in Michigan is really nice, and I love my laundry room here.
“In California, everything's a little bit smaller and a little more squished, but it gets the job done. At the end of the day, as long as you have a good system, you're covered and you've got it.”
Running a load of laundry every day of the week is also part of her game plan.
“My key is chipping away day by day at everything,” she explains. “Putting in one load of laundry a day, that's what I've been trying to do, and it's been a game-changer for me. Just doing what you can and giving yourself grace.”
Knowing her limits is also part of Christen's strategy. Her Maytag campaign included a pet adoption event where she got to preview the appliances and help puppies find permanent homes, though not at her place just yet.
“As soon as I can handle my baby and dog at home, then we will be adding a new furry friend to our household, but I think I need to stay on top of things as they are before I add any more chaos into our home,” she shares.
As Christen continues to find her footing in this new season of motherhood, she underscores her newfound appreciation for all moms—and for being welcomed onto the team.
“I feel like I'm part of this new club of women and we all have something in common,” she says. “It’s like that club always existed, but I just never even realized it and now I'm just so lucky that I'm a part of it.
“Moms are superheroes. They have it figured out. I'm still trying to figure it out, but every day, I get slightly better. The biggest joy is waking up in the morning with such purpose, like, I have to keep this little human alive, and it's so fun seeing the world through her eyes.”
