Country Star Dierks Bentley Admits He and Wife Cassidy Sleep in Separate Bedrooms: ‘It’s Terrible’
Country music star Dierks Bentley has revealed that he sleeps in a separate bedroom from his wife of 20 years, after finding it impossible to each get a good night of rest while sharing the same bed.
Dierks, 49, who lives with wife Cassidy and their three kids in Nashville, TN, opened up about their unique sleeping arrangements in an episode of Bobby Bones' podcast "BobbyCast," during which he revealed that he and his spouse decided to switch up their sleeping arrangements after he returned from a particularly long tour.
The "Free and Easy" crooner confessed that he struggles to maintain a healthy lifestyle routine while he's on the road—and as a result, when he returns home, sleep is his main focus because he gets so little rest while traveling.
"When I do get off the road, it's like the No. 1 priority. My wife will be like, 'How'd you sleep last night?' And we don't even sleep in the same room right now anymore. We've moved beyond that," he confessed.
He explained that he would never get a good night's rest when sleeping in the same bed as Cassidy, noting that it weighed heavily on his mind.

Dierks confessed that his personal sleep arrangements are very particular—which makes it difficult for him to settle even at the best of times.
"I've been thinking about this for years. I'm just even thinking about ... the position. I have three pillows [that] have to be positioned exactly the correct way. I'm just thinking about the process of getting to fall asleep," he added.
Because he struggles so much with his nighttime routine, any movement or noise that his wife—who seems to fall asleep very easily—makes leaves him all the more frustrated.
"And all of a sudden she'll jerk. I'm like, 'You got to be kidding me. You're already out?'" he joked.
Eventually, the stress of perfecting their nighttime routine prompted Dierks and Cassidy to take drastic action: initially by opting to sleep in separate beds, allowing each of them to get a full night of rest without any hassle.
"Years ago I decided to separate church and state and I got rid of our bed. I've got two platform beds and two box springs and two mattresses," he explained.
Bentley also revealed that having separate beds allows his wife to "move around all she wants" without sacrificing his sleep.
However, their sleep routine has been off track lately, with the country singer revealing that he has been "such an animal" as of late—leading to them moving into separate rooms.
"It's terrible. She used to sleep on the couch, now there's an extra room we have, and she'll go sleep in there," Dierks revealed, before insisting that he does one day want to return to a routine that allows them to share a room once again.

"Even last night, we're like, 'We've got to get this back on track when I get off the road. We got to get back in the same room,'" he said.
Dierks and Cassidy tied the knot in 2005 after originally meeting as teenagers in the eighth grade.
"It's a pretty crazy story of just going back and forth with the right time or the wrong time, or right place, wrong time, all that stuff," Dierks said to The Boot in 2016.
"Finally, I was playing a show in Las Vegas, and opening for George Strait, and she walked on the bus. I kind of knew that that was the moment."
The hitmaker and his wife share three kids: daughters Evalyn Day and Jordan Catherine, and son Knox.
Dierks and his wife primarily live in Nashville, where they have owned multiple residences over the years—including one property that they offloaded in 2015 for $1.45 million, having owned it for six years.
Most recently, the couple showcased their current residence in a photo shoot for Garden & Gun, in which Dierks opened up about how they stumbled across the Craftsman-style bungalow and immediately knew it was the perfect place for their family.
"Cass found the house, and we just went for it," he recalled. "It’s been awesome in a lot of different ways: Kids running in and out. I can ride my bike. I can look out the window and see a bar, a coffee shop, and restaurants.
"We have great people all around us, and it’s made me love the city in a way I’ve never loved it before."
The duo also have properties in Colorado, where they hunkered down with their children during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country singer previously resided in Phoenix, where he was born.
