After President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election race on Sunday, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him.

If she clinches the nomination—and wins—she could soon be residing in the White House.

But in the meantime, where is she now?

As Harris steps into the spotlight as the Democratic Party’s leading presidential candidate who might soon go toe-to-toe against Donald Trump, let’s take a look at the many places she’s called home along the way.

Kamala Harris’ real estate—past and present

Harris and her husband, second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, live rent-free on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory at 1 Observatory Circle, which is about 3 miles from the White House.

Walter Mondale was the first vice president to live in the residence, and Harris is the ninth.

When Biden lived there during his time as vice president, he reportedly enjoyed spending time in the bright, airy solarium.

Before moving in, Harris hired decorator Sheila Bridges to give the home a refresh.

Bridges lined the home’s library walls with bright pink wallpaper, which was featured on fashion designer Prabal Gurung‘s Instagram feed.
