Amy Schumer Transforms Very Traditional $6.25 Million Apartment Into Her New York City ‘Dream Home’

It has been only four months since actress Amy Schumer filed for divorce from Chris Fischer, yet she has already completed work on transforming her new abode in New York City into her "dream home."

Schumer, 44, quietly snapped up the Upper West Side condo for $6.25 million in January 2025—nearly a year before she announced that she and Fischer, who share a son, Gene, were separating, and just two months before the former couple listed their shared Brooklyn townhouse for $14 million.

When that townhome was listed, Schumer stated that they had made the decision to move back to Manhattan because they wanted to be closer to their son's school.

"He got into a good school and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day," Schumer told the Wall Street Journal at the time.

However, just one day after the five-bedroom dwelling was sold for the reduced price of $11 million, the comedian and "Kinda Pregnant" star announced that their marriage was over, writing in a since-deleted Instagram post: "Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years."

In January, she shared the first photos of her new Manhattan dwelling, a 7,500-square-foot condo unit that overlooks Central Park and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.

Though Schumer has owned the space for more than a year now, she has only just revealed the personal touches that she implemented throughout the space—with the help of design team Ashe Leandro, whom she paid tribute to on Instagram, thanking them for enabling her to create her perfect abode.

"Thank you for helping me creat[e] my dream home," she wrote, while sharing several images of the curated living space inside the unit—as well as a jaw-dropping peek at the incredible views she now enjoys.

"I’m grateful every single day. Beautiful and filled with love. I know I know but it’s true. I never dreamed I would get to live somewhere like my home."

The photos reveal that the main living room in the dwelling has undergone a dramatic transformation since Schumer purchased it. The white wall trim molding that once filled much of the space has been removed, replaced by a moody gray limewash, while the chevron wood flooring has been covered over with cozy rugs.

A large gray sectional couch dominates one part of the space, accented by colorful pale yellow and pink pillows. That coffee table is placed behind a sizable wooden coffee table, while several chairs are also dotted around the area to provide additional seating.

The gray walls have been accented with an enormous painting that spans one length of the space, while a potted plant is perched on a table in the window to add an organic element to the room.

In another area, a round dining table with six colorful armchairs is nestled in front of one of the many windows, sitting alongside a vintage dresser. A large red lamp shade adds an exotic touch overhead.

One particularly cozy reading nook with incredible views of the park has been outfitted with an enormous armchair, making it the perfect spot to cuddle up with a cup of coffee or to indulge in a good book.

It is unclear whether Fischer has also moved back to Manhattan to be closer to his son. Schumer filed for an uncontested divorce, which means that the duo had already agreed on how they were going to share their finances, property, and custody of their child. However, the details of those arrangements have not been revealed.

The actress made clear when she and Fischer split that they remained committed to co-parenting their son amicably.

"We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son," she wrote in a statement.

In addition to her New York City dwelling, Schumer owns several properties outside of Manhattan, including a New Orleans dwelling that she had put on the market for $1.25 million in October, before backtracking days later.

The actress initially listed the two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom property—which spans 1,967 square feet—on Oct. 26, after owning it for just four years.

But just over one week later, the listing vanished, with an insider admitting that Schumer had backtracked on her decision to offload it after getting "cold feet."

While Schumer is primarily based in New York City, she previously explained that she and Fischer decided to invest in a New Orleans home after she "fell in love" with the city in 2016.

"Over the years, going on the road, doing stand-up, and then eventually being married and pregnant, we were spending more and more time here. And so in 2021, we bought this beautiful place and renovated it and made it into our dream, dramatic New Orleans hang," she explained in a video for Homeworthy, a media company founded by three-time Emmy-winning TV producer Alison Kenworthy.

The dwelling was one of many in Schumer and Fischer's growing property portfolio, which made headlines in 2016 when the actress purchased her childhood farm, which her family lost when they went bankrupt.

"We lost the farm when we lost everything else," the comedian said in an Instagram post at the time.

The property, which is located in the Catskills, is understood to serve as something of a retreat for Schumer, who appears to have spent some time at the dwelling over the holiday season, sharing a hilarious photo of herself passed out in a playroom, while her son can be seen just off camera with a toy airplane in hand.

"Winter break you win okay!?! You’ve shattered us all. Open the schools!!!!" she wrote in the caption of the image, which showed her lounging in a room with a climbing wall and rope-net jungle gym.

Schumer previously revealed that she also had the property outfitted with an incredible custom treehouse built by "tree whisperer" to the stars, Pete Nelson.

Per Nelson's website, prices for the structures start in the hundreds of thousands and go all the way up to $1 million. It is estimated that Schumer paid $200,000 for her "dream" woodland dwelling.

Schumer's treehouse features many impressive amenities, including a large staircase that leads visitors up from the ground to the raised space via an expansive railed deck. That deck has been outfitted with a table and chairs for outdoor relaxation, while inside, there is a large L-shaped couch for maximum comfort.

The indoor space also has a colorful rug, beautiful wood-lined walls, and a large ladder that extends to a spacious loft.
