Amy Schumer Officially Files for Divorce from Husband Chris Fischer—After Snapping Up $6.25 Million Manhattan Bachelorette Pad

by Charlie Lankston

Comedian Amy Schumer has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Chris Fischer, one month after she confirmed that the duo had split.

The 44-year-old actress, who shares a 6-year-old son, Gene, with her estranged spouse, filed divorce documents in New York City on Jan. 6, according to People.

It comes mere weeks after she spoke out to announce their separation amid furious speculation about the status of their marriage, writing in a since-deleted Instagram post: "Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years.

"We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. Blah blah blah not [because] I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag [a] basket and not because he’s a hot [James] Beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."

Interestingly, the announcement came after a year of much upheaval for the former couple—who put their longtime Brooklyn townhouse on the market for $14 million in March, before ultimately selling the property for the much lower price of $11 million in December.

When they listed the home, Schumer said they had made the decision to move back to Manhattan in order to be closer to their son's school, joking that she didn't want to have to deal with a 45-minute commute every time she needed to drop him off or pick him up.

However, it appears that the comedian had already laid down new roots in the city several weeks before listing her Brooklyn home, with records showing that she snapped up a stunning Upper West Side apartment for $6.25 million two months before the townhouse was put on the market.

As first reported by the New York Post, Schumer's new apartment overlooks Central Park and the Jackie Kennedy Onassis Reservoir—and offers three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

The actress recently showed off her new space in a post shared on her Instagram account, where she revealed photos of herself modeling a series of swimsuits before heading off on vacation.

"My mom took these photos of me while I was packing for a trip," she explained alongside the snaps, which show her posing in her living room, with the New York City skyline seen through floor-to-ceiling windows behind her.

"This year is about self care and self love. No makeup. No filter," she went on. "Let’s all appreciate our health our families our friends and have the best year of our lives. Moving forward with no regrets. Just love."

The first four photos in the carousel showed Schumer modeling an array of swimsuits and bikinis, while the rest captured her showcasing some other outfits she took on vacation, including a black minidress and a baggy silk suit.

Her final snap showed her sporting a sweater with the word "perimenopause" stamped across it and was taken while she was on her trip, she revealed.

Behind her, an elegantly decorated living room can be seen, with a large L-shaped gray couch set up against one wall opposite two cozy-looking white swivel chairs.

Chevron-patterned hardwood flooring was accessorized with a patterned rug at the center of the space, while a large wooden side table with a lamp was seen next to one arm of the couch.

Her new Manhattan apartment certainly boasts a much more traditional aesthetic than her former home in Brooklyn, which she and Fischer are understood to have renovated extensively during their time there.

However, what her new abode might lack in modern flair, it more than makes up for in incredible views, which can be enjoyed from several rooms in the property.

The main living space, which features an enormous great room with windows spanning the entirety of the wall, offering a picture-perfect vista of the park.

That space also boasts a cozy window nook, ideal for curling up with a book, as well as a dining area that leads into the brand-new chef's kitchen, which also offers park views.

Schumer also has her own personal sanctuary inside the home in the form of the primary suite, which occupies its own wing of the apartment and boasts an enormous walk-in closet and a "spa-like" en suite bathroom, complete with Calacatta Gold marble accents and an air-jet bathtub.

One of the other two bedrooms in the apartment has its own en suite, while the third space can be used in any manner of ways, with the property's listing revealing that it previously served as a study.

The comedian's new building also offers a wide variety of amenities for its residents, including 24-hour doormen and concierge service, a gym, play areas, and proximity to some of Manhattan's most sought-after tourist attractions.
