2. Visit Cameron Park

Located just minutes from downtown Waco, Cameron Park is a vast 416-acre haven offering more than 26 miles of trails, two picturesque rivers, majestic trees, several playgrounds, a disc golf course, and a variety of other attractions. “As a lifestyle portrait photographer, one of my favorite spots for family sessions is an area known as Proctor Springs. This picturesque area features what look like ancient stone steps, a charming bridge over the spring, and a backdrop so lush and wild, you might forget you’re in the heart of an urban park.” – Delaney Stevenson, Photography By Delaney

For something slower-paced, visit Homestead Heritage just north of town — a working agrarian community with handmade crafts, a restored gristmill, and one of the best scratch-made lunches you’ll find anywhere.” says Isaac French.

6. Attend Valley Mills Vineyards’ Annual Harvest Party

“I would say that our best summer event here is our Annual Harvest Party,” says Joey Bagnasco, winemaker at Valley Mills Vineyards. “Each year up to a hundred guests are invited to help us hand-pick grapes here at the estate vineyard. While we are open to the public daily and guests can always walk the grounds, our Harvest Party is a unique chance for Waco-area folks to get involved directly in the winemaking process.

After a couple hours of harvesting, guests are treated to a barbecue brunch and can then help us crush the grapes by foot. The only way to attend this event is to join our winery email list, as we have to plan harvests on the grapes’ schedule (usually around the first week of August).”
